Description

4 Abbey Square is a Grade II listed building constructed from rubble with a slate roof and brick chimney stacks, some of which have been renewed. The fronts of Nos 2 and 4 are two-storey with a single window, featuring Gothick small pane casement windows, some of which have been renewed. The ground floor has cambered lintels and modern half-glazed porches. No 1, located to the left, is a single-storey building with an attic, stepped down from Nos 2 and 4, and has a two-window front with attic gables and casement windows that have brick cills below the eaves. There is a four-pane sash window on the ground floor, along with a lean-to porch/conservatory and a half-glazed door. A modern extension is present at the rear.

At the left end, the building continues to a gable that faces Abbey Road, featuring a four-pane sash window above a modern shop front for Riverside newsagents. The shops on either side are not included in this listing.

Inside Nos 2 to 4, there are light chamfered beams.
