Description
The Canopied Tomb of Richard and Katherine Wynne is a table tomb featuring a hooded canopy, made of sandstone that is partly eroded. The flat capstone is supported by round fluted columns with ringed capitals located at the angles and center of the front. The moulded capstone has an eroded inscription on top, which includes references to Katherine Wynne, and is surrounded by a decorative frieze with bands of circles. The front and sides of the tomb are stone-panelled, with two panels between each pair of columns. Each panel features a blind moulded round arch with circular decoration on the columns, large imposts, and moulded spandrels, although the detail has eroded on the front. Resting on the capstone is a moulded decorated hood, with the soffit adorned with cherub bosses. Beneath the hood and leaning against the church wall is a square tablet displaying a coat of arms, presumably belonging to the Wynne family, which features a diamond with chevrons surrounded by feathers.
