Description

The Market Cross is a structure made of tooled limestone, situated on a circular island surrounded by low rubble revettment. It features a tall, tapering octagonal cross shaft with an ogee-stopped top and a chamfered abacus. The base consists of a two-stage square chamfered plinth. At the top of the shaft, there is a rectangular upper section with moulded capping and a simple iron cross on top. The overall height of the Market Cross is approximately 4.5 meters.
