Description
The West Range of Farm Buildings at Plas Kinmel is a group of structures from the 19th century, constructed from rubble stone with limestone quoins and topped with hipped slate roofs that share a common valley gutter. These buildings are single storey, with the southern end of the eastern range designed as stables, while the northern end features a 3-bay open gig house. The exterior includes timber boarded doors and part louvred vents, with 4-paned glazed lights positioned above. The roof is equipped with three small transverse ventilators.
The western range serves as the service end of the house and likely housed stables for riding horses. The roofs are fully torched and supported by steeply pitched trusses made of iron rod ties, which flatten to a central shoe and include a tie to the apex, along with seating for timber struts to the principal rafters. There is a single tier of purlins supporting the structure.
