Description
The Holland Chest Tomb, located in the churchyard of St Elian's Church, is a sandstone chest tomb dated 1612. It features shallow-relief heraldic carving and simple strapwork-derived decoration, along with a moulded cornice and base. The raised tombstone has a memorial inscription in raised letters honoring 'HUMFRIDVS HOLLAND' (of Teyrdan), who died in 1612. Additionally, there are later inscriptions on the tombstone commemorating Thomas Holland Esq of Teirdan, who died in 1683, and John Holland, who died in 1718.
To the immediate north of the chest tomb is a low sandstone tombstone with an incised memorial inscription for Jane Price, the wife of Thomas Holland, who passed away in 1673.
