Description

Pont Trefriw is a bridge built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, certainly after 1777 when plans for the new turnpike road were created. Survey plans from 1822 exist, although this does not necessarily indicate the construction date. The bridge features a wide, single-span design with a segmental arch. The rough-dressed voussoirs are set back slightly from a plain arch ring made of narrow stones. The parapets have rough-dressed coping stones and a plain band below, with battered piers on either side of the arch. A modern footway has been added on the west side, and the arch has been strengthened with modern strutting.
