Description

The Liverpool Arms public house is a tall, three-storey building with three windows, featuring whitened pebble-dashed walls and a smooth-rendered black-painted plinth and architraves. It has a slate roof with boarded overhanging eaves. An external stack is located on the right side wall, while brick stacks are positioned at the rear and left side, adjacent to the town wall. The architectural details date from the late 19th century and are typical of public houses from that era.

The gable-end front includes a central panel door set within a doorcase that has a pediment. The windows are horned sashes, with the entrance flanked by two-pane windows that incorporate etched glass. On the first floor, there is a central four-pane window flanked by narrower two-pane windows, while the second floor features shorter two-pane windows on both the right and left sides.

To the left, there is a one-storey extension with a lean-to roof that adjoins the tower of Porth Isaf, which is part of the medieval town wall and is listed separately. This extension includes a two-pane window. The external stack on the right side wall is set back from the front gable end and has a later brick shaft. Adjacent to it is a three-storey flat-roof projection.

At the rear, where the ground level is higher, there is a replacement first-floor window on the right side, a twelve-pane horned sash window above it, and an inserted window on the left side of the second floor. Inside the roofless and open shell of the tower of Porth Isaf, there is a one-and-a-half-storey lean-to with a modern three-light window.

The entrance vestibule features a half-glazed door with etched glass from the late 19th century. The main interior has been modernised.
