Description
Bryn Hyfryd is a two-storey, two-window farmhouse dating from around 1840. It features a steeply hipped slate roof with wide boarded eaves and tall stone chimneys at both ends. The walls are constructed of slate rubble with heavy quoins. On the first floor, there are two camber-headed 12-pane hornless sash windows, and the ground floor has two similar windows along with a centrally placed doorway that has a broad panelled door with an overlight. The entrance is sheltered by a shallow gabled porch with slate slab side panels. There is a small walled forecourt garden at the front. At the rear, the roof has a single small gabled dormer. Each floor has two camber-headed windows, with horizontal sashes except for the right of the door, which has a horned vertical small pane sash. The camber-headed doorway to the left is fitted with a simple boarded door.
The interior is attractive and largely unaltered, featuring open joists in the ground floor ceilings, although the parlour is ceiled and coved. It retains original doors and staircases, along with built-in cupboards beside the fireplaces.
