Description
This building is a pair of former quarry workers' cottages, dating from the 19th century. They are single-storey and arranged as a reflected pair. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame and have corrugated iron cladding on a rubble plinth. They feature a continuous slate roof with plain wooden bargeboards. Located on the roadside, the cottages are built over a steep gradient at the rear.
They share a squat central chimney made of red brick, which has cornicing and paired ceramic pots. Each cottage has a central projecting porch with a catslide roof, leading to the east (right) return. The right unit has a late Victorian 6-panel door, while the left unit's door is missing. There are single windows flanking the porch for each unit, corresponding to a two-room interior layout. The right-hand windows still have their 9-pane sashes, while the left-hand windows have been blocked up.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
