Description
The agricultural ranges at Rhosigor consist of a threshing barn, lofted stables, and a single-storey stable wing, all arranged in a U-shaped plan. At the northwest corner, there is an additional linear range of stables. The buildings are constructed from roughly coursed mortared rubble masonry, featuring large stones as quoins and lintels, and they have slate roofs, although the single-storey stable wing has been covered with profiled metal sheeting.
The barn, which forms the southern part of the U-shaped range, has a wide doorway on its south wall flanked by narrow ventilation slits. This doorway now features a modern sliding door, and it appears that the height of the lintel may have been raised in the 20th century. The west gable includes a ground floor ventilation slit, while the east gable has a 6-paned light above a doorway. The ground to the east rises towards the pigsty range and the house at Rhosigor. The north wall has a boarded stable door at the west end, and a joint in the masonry indicates the position of a former opposing doorway, which has been partially blocked and now contains another boarded stable door at the angle where it meets the lofted stables.
The lofted stable range features two stables, each with doorways offset to the right (south). The south door has a shallow overlight with glazing bars, and to the right of this door, the walling has been replaced with profiled metal sheeting. To the left of the doors are 2-pane windows above hit and miss ventilators, and small-paned casement windows are located under the eaves above the doors. At the rear of this range, there are two doorways. The single-storey stable that forms the northern arm of the U is similarly detailed to the adjacent lofted range.
Adjacent to the northwest corner of the U-shaped range is a long linear structure with a low eaves line, likely a cow house, which features widely spaced openings, including two boarded doors and two windows. The interior of the buildings was not inspected during the survey.
