Description
Ty-Newydd-y-Fynnon is a late 17th century storeyed end chimney house that has undergone cosmetic alterations in the late 19th century. The building is constructed from rubble on a part-boulder plinth and features rubble gable parapets. It has an old slate roof with 19th century chimneys, weather-coursing, and plain capping. The entrance is located near the center on the right and consists of a recessed boarded door with a glazed panel. Flanking the entrance are 19th century recessed four-pane sash windows with projecting slate cills, and there are similar, smaller windows above. To the left gable, there is a 19th century rubble lean-to with a corrugated iron roof. The rear of the building has modern windows and an additional 19th century sash window, which is situated in a reduced stairlight and features some brick patching. There are traces of external render and whitening visible.
Inside, the left-hand ground floor room, which was formerly the hall, has chamfered beams and a large fireplace with a bressummer.
This building is a 17th century vernacular farmhouse that retains much of its original character.
