Description

This is a late 19th-century estate lodge, built in an ornamental Gothic style and representative of the Tan-y-bwlch estate. It is picturesquely planned with a T-shaped main section and a lower, rear wing. The lodge is constructed of rubble masonry with sandstone dressings, topped with steep slate roofs, projecting eaves, and ornamental bargeboards. Tall axial stacks are also present.

The main section of the lodge is one and a half storeys high, with an advanced gable, creating a cross wing, at the east side. It features mullioned windows of two and three lights. The west wing has a canted bay window on the ground floor and a two-light mullioned window above. A stack with a blank shield is expressed on the south wall of the west wing. The entrance is located to the north of the west wing, abutting the lower service wing. A steeply gabled porch with a moulded, pointed arched doorway provides shelter. The service wing, built of inferior stonework, has altered casement windows, a single dormer window in the roof, and a chimney running along its length.

The interior of the lodge was not inspected during the survey in June/July 2003.
