Description

The cottages at 10-17 Gwynant Street form a group of eight and date from an unknown period, though showing evidence of differing construction phases. They are built of roughly-squared stone blocks with a continuous slate roof, a tiled ridge, and shared chimneys. A change in the stonework is noticeable between numbers 11 and 12, suggesting separate building campaigns. The cottages are single-window units arranged as a series of reflected pairs, with alternating paired inner doors and windows. All the doors are 20th century replacements. The ground floor window of number 10, named Llys Emrys, is a projecting rectangular bay with a slated roof. Numbers 15 and 16 have later 19th-century plain sash windows. All ground floor windows except that of number 10 have returned slate labels and slate lintels. The upper windows of number 16 retain an original 19th-century nine-pane sash under the eaves; numbers 10 and 11 have late 19th-century plain sashes, while the remaining upper windows are modern.
