Description

16 Gwynant Street, along with Nos 10-17, is a group of cottages built from roughly-squared stone blocks and topped with a continuous slate roof featuring a tiled ridge and plain, shared chimneys. A masonry break between Nos 11 and 12 indicates that they were built in different phases. Each cottage is a single window unit, arranged in reflected pairs, with alternating paired inner doors and windows. All the doors are from the 20th century, mostly modern.

On the ground floor, the window at No 10 (Llys Emrys) is a projecting rectangular bay with a slated roof, while Nos 15 and 16 feature later 19th-century plain sash windows. All cottages except No 10 have returned slate labels and slate lintels above their ground floor windows. For the upper windows, No 16 retains its 19th-century 9-pane sash under the eaves, and Nos 10 and 11 have late 19th-century plain sashes; the remaining upper windows are modern. This group of cottages is significant as a cohesive architectural ensemble.
