Description

Rhydybod is a two-storey estate farmhouse built with a centralised plan. It is constructed from local slatestone and features a pitched slate roof with a squat central chimney, plain capping, and weathercoursing. The house has a main three-bay block with a lower service and carthouse wing attached to the rear. The main elevation is symmetrical, featuring a central entrance with a part-glazed door and a four-pane rectangular overlight. It has original late 19th-century timber-framed cross-windows with wrought iron opening lights and six-pane casement sections on both floors, along with rough-dressed slate lintels and projecting slate sills. There are transomed windows with fixed upper sections and opening lower sections on the gable ends, including one on the ground floor of each gable and two on the upper floor of the right gable, with the left one being blind. A corrugated iron lean-to is attached to the rear on the left side, with a boarded door on the side. The lower wing at the rear has a central chimney in the upper service section, and there is a two-bay carthouse stepped down to the right, which has corrugated iron cladding and a central brick pier. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
