Description
Tyddyn-y-Coed Farmhouse is a storied end chimney farmhouse from the first half of the 17th century, featuring later alterations and additions. The structure is built of whitened rubble with a 20th-century slate roof and plain rendered chimneys, complemented by tiled gable parapets. It is partly situated on a raised terrace, which is supported by a curved rubble revetment. The right gable end extends beyond this terrace, creating a basement that has a low entrance with a pegged and stopped-chamfered doorcase and a boarded door.
The main entrance to the house is off-centre to the right and is located at the higher, raised ground-floor level, featuring a modern part-glazed door. To the right, there is a late 19th-century four-pane sash window, while to the left, there is a modern window in an enlarged opening. The first floor has three additional sash windows below the eaves, consistent with the style. A 19th-century extension is located at the rear, with an entrance on the left return that has a modern door. The south gable end is pebble-dashed.
Inside, the ground floor features original post-and-panel oak partitions in the cross-passage, with a modern stair positioned between them and three surviving plain doorways. There is a wide fireplace on the left gable, which shows evidence of a former mural winding stair to the left. The ceiling is beamed, with chamfered beams and joists, and collar beam roof trusses.
