Description

Pont-y-Capel is a road bridge built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, connecting Capel Curig to Plas-y-Brenin, which was formerly the Royal Hotel and may have been built around the same time. This single-span bridge is constructed from rubble and features tapering buttresses on either side of a wide segmental arch. The arch is made up of roughly-dressed voussoirs beneath a dressed arch-ring, with a projecting keystone. A plain string course runs along the bridge, topped by a dressed slatestone capping on the flat rubble parapet.
