Description
Tros-y-canol is a two-storey, 'L'-shaped building constructed of stuccoed stone and brick, topped with a hipped slate roof. The main facade features three bays, with two additional bays set back on the right. A central lattice porch leads to a half-glazed door, which steps down into the house. The upper floor has small pane sash windows with cusped and pointed glazing bars in the upper light, complemented by stone label mouldings. The ground floor windows have slate sills and splayed recesses. The upper windows of the main block are adorned with raised hipped dormers that have deep eaves. There is a central half-glazed door on the first floor that once opened onto a railed verandah, although the railings have since been removed. The right side of the building has one similar window on the ground floor, while the others have been altered, with one being blocked. A contemporary rain-water head is present. The left end is slate hung and features half-hipped gable end windows, with a tripartite arrangement on the ground floor and a 12-pane window above. The rear of the building is mostly pebbledashed and includes a modern lean-to structure that covers nearly the full width, obscuring a tripartite sash window. The outer side is rendered, with a pebbledashed gable at the rear, featuring three leaded casement windows, one of which has Gothic heads.
Inside, the building retains its original layout and details, including a turned newel staircase.
