Description

20 High Street is a two-storey building that is part of a group of structures shown on John Wood’s 1834 map, with later 19th-century alterations made when New Street was constructed. The building features a one-window rubble frontage, which is white-washed for No 22. It has slate roofs and later chimney stacks, with No 22 constructed from red brick. The windows include 8 and 12-pane sash styles. No 18 has three-light shop windows with cornices on both the High Street and New Street sides, with cellar openings below. The entrance features a half-glazed door located across the splayed corner. No 20 has a modern panelled door, while No 22 has a glazed door. The left end is rendered, and the rear has been modernized, including an attic dormer for No 20. There is also a six-panel door numbered 20 in the roadside boundary wall.
