Description
Garth-goch is a small farmhouse dating from 1805. It is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The building is constructed of local stone, which is white-washed, and features a slate roof with stone end chimneys. On the front, there are two square casement windows located at the eaves. The doorway, which is offset to the left, is topped with a gabled hood and has a small-pane casement window on each side. Above the entrance, there is a wooden lintel carved with the initials T + M I and the date 1805. To the right, there is an extension that has a corrugated roof covering, a square window at the eaves, and a narrowed doorway with a window to the left. The rear elevation maintains its original simplicity, featuring a small 4-pane 19th-century window to the left and a small light next to the projecting chimney breast on the right.
Inside, the farmhouse has a simple two-unit plan with a partly-flagged floor. The interior includes stopped-chamfered oak main beams on the left and plain joists. The main room on the left has an inglenook fireplace and a primary winding pine stair opposite the entrance, with plain stick balusters. The room on the right was originally divided into a service space and a parlour but is now one room, featuring boarded doors with pegged oak frames.
