Description
The lychgate and churchyard wall to the Church of St Cybi date from the early period and serve as a boundary for the graveyard. The churchyard wall is approximately 2 meters high and follows the curved line of the graveyard, closely aligning with the village street while retaining the graveyard at a higher level. The lychgate is located at the western end, opening directly from the street. It features a tall, two-centred arch with stone side walls that return to create a seat on each side. The roof is slated and supported by softwood joists and a single purlin. Inside the lychgate, there is an early Celtic stone cross, which is a pillar measuring approximately 22 millimeters by 30 millimeters in section and 1.3 meters high. The cross bears a roughly inscribed club-ended Latin cross on its face.
