Description

2 Eldon Terrace is a two-storey and attic, two-window building dating from the 18th century, constructed with a stucco facade that shares a similar classical design with the other terraces in Upper Bangor. Numbers 1 to 4 are arranged as reflected pairs. The building has a slate roof with boarded eaves, and No. 3 features dentil detailing. Chimney stacks are constructed of brick and rendered. Dormer windows are gabled and slate-hung. The windows are a mix of sash and casement types, with Nos. 3 and 4 having splayed bay windows. Nos. 1, 3, and 5 retain stucco wreath motifs on the advanced entablature, which is supported by an egg and dart cornice; the corners have end pilasters decorated with acanthus foliage. Most windows have moulded architraves and bracket cills with stucco lintel ornament. Each pair of houses has a doorcase featuring Ionic pilasters, a cornice, and foliage carved brackets; this is also present at No. 5. The doorways are recessed, with half-glazed doors at Nos. 1 and 2 and twin-arched-panelled doors at Nos. 3 to 5. Rubble walls to the front originally carried ornate cast iron railings with intersecting pointed arches, although these have been removed to No. 5. Stucco ornament is located above the door to the side passage.
