Description
Llwyn-yr-aethnen is a two-storey, three-bay building constructed from rubble stonework on a foundation of large boulders, with a painted finish and flush pointing that leaves some stones projecting. The modern slate roof has replaced the original imposed copings but retains the kneelers. The major stack is located externally at the east end, with an additional stack at the west end. The main entrance is off-centre and round-headed, made of flush rubble stones, with a modern door. The windows are paned and made of stained wood. At the east end, there is a large projecting stack with slated shoulders and a rendered flue, along with a slated oven projection in the angle. An angled window is present at the west end, and there are traces of creasing that suggest the original building may have included an east range in line.
A modern wing extends from the rear of the west end. The entrance originally led to a cross passage, with a living kitchen to the left and a small parlour at the west end; however, the partitions of the passage have since been removed. The large fireplace in the living room features a chamfered fire beam with cut stops and shows signs of many rushlight burns. The external oven is not visible from the inside.
