Description
Porth Mynach is a building featuring snecked rubble facings with whitened limestone dressings and slate roofs with tiled ridges. It consists of three sections: a square, two-and-a-half storey stepped-gabled tower; an adjoining single-storey plus attic range; and a single-storey range at right angles to the rear. These sections originally served as the coachman's accommodation, the coach-house, and stables, respectively.
The tower block has 2-light mullioned windows on the ground and first floors, with an additional smaller 2-light window in the gable on the northeast-facing side. There is a continuous hoodmould on the southeast side at the first floor, and a stepped buttress at the southeast corner. The tower is topped with an ogee leaded cupola and an iron weathervane. A plain rectangular stack is located on the northeast side.
The lower range features two modern windows on the ground floor, with a gabled dormer above that breaks the eaves and has plain bargeboards. It also has a 4-pane casement window. The northwest end includes a part-stepped gable parapet. At the rear, there are two large depressed-arched openings, now fitted with modern multi-pane glazing, alongside a 3-light mullioned window to the left. A modern French window with a decorative iron balcony is present on the first floor. The former stables have been significantly altered, featuring half-rendered walls and modern windows.
