Description
Capel Isaf is a building that includes an attached stable range to the west. It features roughcast walls with a slate hipped valley roof and roughcast stacks on the north and south ridges. The eaves are supported by brackets. Originally, the building had a roughly square plan but was extended by one bay to the west in the 19th century.
The east front has two storeys with two windows, featuring 12-pane sash windows on each floor, with the lower ones being larger. The south front originally had two windows and a central ridge stack, but now has three windows. It includes square 6-pane upper windows, a long narrow 10-pane window on the ground floor, and a 12-pane sash window to the right. The added section to the left features a four-12-4-pane oriel window on the first floor and a small 12-pane sash window on the ground floor. The north front has a horned 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left, and a four-12-4-pane oriel window above the door, which is framed by a renewed open pedimental doorcase with panelled reveals, a door, and an elliptical arched fanlight. The added section to the right has a 12-pane sash window on each floor. The west end wall has paired gables, with the right gable featuring a stack.
To the west, a colourwashed rubble low range connects to the hipped stable range, which is also made of colourwashed rubble and has a ridge stack. The west lean-to has a two-storey front with two pairs of casement windows above, a stable door, a window, and a coach entry below, with a curved southwest angle. There is also a single-storey range to the west.
Inside, there is a broad oak staircase with scrolled tread ends, stick balusters, and a ramped rail. The two main rooms on the east side have plain marble fireplaces and plain cornices. The two bedrooms above feature coved ceilings. The loft has oak trusses with tie-beams or collar-beams and queen posts, and the internal walls on the west side have slate-hanging, indicating that the house has been extended since its original construction.
