Description
The Dolphin, which includes the Royal Dolphin, is a large three-storey building set on an arched rubble plinth that rises from the natural rock. It features rendered elevations and a hipped roof covered with pantiles, complete with sprocket eaves. The front elevation has an arched entrance at ground level that provides access to the Royal Dolphin, which occupies this floor. To the left, there is a small 8-pane, two-part casement window, and to the right, a similar 12-pane casement window. The upper floors also have 12-pane casement windows, each fitted with external wooden boarded shutters. On the first floor to the left, there is an arched light adorned with a decorative wrought-iron grille, with a narrow small-pane window positioned above it.
The rear elevation, which faces the estuary, features two multi-pane French doors on the ground floor (Royal Dolphin) that open onto a railed terrace, along with a 12-pane casement window to the right. The upper floors have similar windows to the right and recessed triangular balconies in the center, which are equipped with plain railings at the front and small-pane glazed doors. Each balcony is flanked by tall 12-pane windows on both floors.
