Description

The Belvedere is a simple Classical house dating from the 19th century, featuring two storeys and a T-plan layout. The exterior is finished in stucco with a hipped slate roof and deep eaves. The main southwest elevation has three bays, with a wide arch in the center that contains a recessed tripartite door with small-pane glazing. It is flanked by twelve-pane sash windows, which have external shutters and are separated by full-height plain pilasters. The central bay on the first floor includes an iron-balustraded balcony accessed by a small-pane glazed door.

The main entrance is located to the northwest, accessed via a sloped canopy porch that protrudes at the angle between the main southwest and rear northeast wings, featuring a small-pane glazed door. Above the porch is a small-pane glazed oculus, with a twelve-pane sash window to the left on the ground floor, alongside a small six-pane light. The advanced section to the right is the hipped end wall of the main southwest block, which also has twelve-pane sashes and stucco end pilasters.

A short section of wall with an open arch connects the Belvedere to the rear range of the Pantheon. Immediately to the south of the Belvedere, built into a rock outcrop, is a near semi-circular slate-paved terrace that faces the lane and the estuary beyond. This terrace is approximately 4 meters wide and features a 1-meter high rendered brick parapet with faux gun loops facing the lane. Eight steps lead down from this terrace to a part-cobbled forecourt area in front of the Belvedere. Adjacent to this terrace to the northeast is a smaller triangular terrace with a parapet similar to the larger one.
