Description
The coach-house range at Bodorgan home farm is a long building constructed in several phases, positioned on a slope from west to east. It features rubble walls and a renewed slate roof, which is gabled at the west end and hipped at the east. At the upper (west) end, there is an open-sided two-bay shed, which was originally designed with four open bays. This shed has a rubble gable wall and brick piers. The former wide openings on either side of the shed have been infilled with rubble and now contain inserted square-headed windows. The left window has a fixed four-pane upper light above boarded shutters, while the right window features a twelve-pane fixed light. This shed was later repurposed as a smithy.
On the north (rear) elevation, there is a boarded door and several blocked openings. To the right of the shed is a feed preparation room, which has a boarded door (with a second blocked door to the right) and a fixed twelve-pane window. This room once housed a chaff-cutter that was powered by a gin house that used to be attached to the rear (north) of the building, although the gin house has since been demolished.
Adjoining the feed preparation room to the right (east) are five coach bays. The three bays on the left originally formed the end of the range and were known as the 'fire-engine house', which features a dummy Venetian window in the east gable that is now enclosed. To the right is a two-bay coach-house that includes a loose-box at the east end of the building, likely built in 1782. The coach doors have squared masonry jambs with segmental ashlar heads and are fitted with boarded double doors. The loose-box is constructed from squared and coursed limestone, with ashlar stone voussoir heads above the openings. There is a boarded door to the right, accompanied by a six-pane horned sash window to the left.
