Description
The Church of St Peirio is a simple rural church featuring a continuous nave and chancel, a gabled southwest porch, and a west bellcote. It is constructed from mortared rubble masonry with rough hewn foundations and has freestone dressings. The roof is slate, with slate copings and a stone cross gable finial on both the chancel and porch. The windows, which date from the late 19th century, have shallow pointed heads set in rectangular frames. The north and south walls each contain a single window, while the east window features a paired light. The entrance to the southwest porch is marked by a freestone lintel with a shallow pointed arched soffit.
Inside, the roof displays exposed timbers, including collared trusses supported by brackets that extend down to wall posts on plain corbels. There is a moulded sanctuary rail resting on shaped balusters and a cusped arcade. The 12th-century font is a plain circular bowl that spreads at the base, standing on 17th-century balusters. A single brass memorial plaque commemorates William Kerver, who died in 1645, his grandson William who died in 1640, and Grace, the wife of Richard, who died in 1647. The windows feature small panes of coloured glass arranged in geometric and floral designs.
