Description

The Cenotaph is a memorial tomb chest set on a tall pylon that rests on a stepped plinth. The tomb chest features inscriptions on its broad sides and bronze wreaths on the narrow sides. The narrow sides also display bronze reliefs of a soldier and a sailor, signed by L F Roslyn in 1920. On the broad sides, there is a bronze sword flanked by bronze plates that list the names of those who fell in the Great War. Additional tablets on the narrow sides of the base record the names of the fallen in the Second World War and the Falklands conflict of 1982. The broad sides include inscriptions in bronze lettering in both Welsh and English.
