Description

The Lifeboat Station is a lifeboat house and slipway. It features painted corrugated-iron cladding on a timber-frame structure, situated on a high concrete and timber slipway with timber decking providing access from Castle Hill. The lifeboat house has a curved roof that is taller at the seaward end to accommodate the top of the slipway. The windows are arranged in a stepped manner, consisting of casement-pair windows with a single-pane top-light, and there is a central boarded door next to a flagstaff at the landward end. The slipway includes reinforced concrete piers and lattice girders, which have been replaced since 1904, and there are cantilevered walkways on either side.
