Description
East Colzium is an early 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements, two-storey, three-bay laird's house featuring single pavilions and an enclosed court at the rear. The exterior is harled with painted margins.
On the southeast elevation, there is a pilastered and corniced doorpiece with a deep-set panelled door and a rectangular fanlight, along with regular fenestration. Above the outer bays, there are two modern dormers, and a rooflight is located above the centre.
The northwest (rear) elevation features a three-stage stair tower at the centre that breaks the eaves with a piended roof. There are also single-storey, piend-roofed pavilions on the outer left and right.
The side elevations include a tripartite window at ground level to the left of the south gable, and single windows on each floor of the two-bay northeast gable. The windows are modern metal sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring gabled end stacks.
The interior was not seen in 1996.
A harled garden wall, approximately 12 feet high, encloses the court at the rear. There is later infill in the northern corner of the garden and a garage outside the walls. A garden gate is located in the northwest wall.
