Description
Causewayend is a single-storey inn built in 1823 by James Gillespie Graham. The building features good coursers with margins and has a front elevation that includes a central advanced piended pavilion. This pavilion has a central panelled door topped by a 4-light fanlight, with narrower windows on either side. There is one window in each of the outer bays, and the gables have two windows. The roof is piended with a platform, low twin stacks, and a tiny dormer at the apex of the central piend. All openings on the front elevation have slanting hoods that are integral with the lintel, and the original woodwork and glazing are preserved on the front elevation, gables, and the surviving one-window end sections of the rear elevation. However, the central section of the rear elevation has been rebuilt in a modern style.
