Description

The building is a workshop located within the estate buildings of Hopetoun House, dating from around 1725, possibly designed by William Adam. It is two storeys high, constructed of rubble and thinly harled, with a piended slated roof. The windows and doors feature Gibbsian surrounds, and there is a forestair.

The steading, dated 1774, includes a loft and is built with coursed rubble. It has gabled ends, a slated roof, and segmental arches, one of which has the date inscribed on the key stone.

The slaughter-house, also dating from around 1725 and possibly by William Adam, is made of coursed rubble and has pedimented ends with partly slated roofs. It features corner stones and windows that are now blocked up, arranged in two stages with barred, Gibbsian surrounds. The slaughter-house is currently used as a squash court.
