Description
Stronvar Bridge, located over the River Balvag in Balquhidder, was built between 1779 and 1780, possibly using some earlier materials. This long bridge features three segmental arches with triangular cutwaters on both sides, along with three smaller flood arches that decrease in size towards the north. It has a waist-height parapet topped with flat copes. The bridge remains unaltered and is an unusually long example of 18th century architecture, making it of considerable architectural and historic interest. It serves as a notable local landmark. The materials used include random rubble with roughly dressed voussoirs and copes.
