Description
The stables at Ross Priory date back to 1794 and have undergone modern alterations. Originally designed as a quadrangular stable block, it has been partly demolished and is now in an L-shaped configuration. The building is rendered with red sandstone margins and dressings.
The south range of the stables is near-symmetrical, featuring a slightly advanced, two-stage piend-roofed entrance pend at the center. There is a pedimented segmental-arched carriage entrance with a keystone dated 1794, and a blocked window directly above it. The flanking wings were altered around the 1950s, with two windows symmetrically placed on the left side, while the right side has a partly blocked window and a large sliding garage door inserted.
Additionally, there is a pigsty, which is a rubble lean-to block that is now roofless and has boarded doors. The bothy is an original piend-roofed lodge building, constructed from rectangular-plan rubble. It has four bays symmetrically arranged on the north side facing the loch, with two windows at the center and pointed arch openings in the outer bays, though it is also roofless.
