Old Schoolhouse

The Old Schoolhouse is a former school building from the later 19th century, designed in a simple Tudor style. It is a single storey and attic structure located in its own grounds, arranged in an L-plan with a plainer three-bay former schoolroom to the north. The exterior is made of coursed grey and pink granite, featuring a base course, some hoodmoulds, and ball finials on the north and south gables. The south elevation showcases distinctive deeply recessed timber mullioned tripartite windows with square panes.

The principal elevation on the south side has three bays and includes a central square-plan castellated porch with a segmental arch entrance that has a panelled timber door. To the right is an advanced gabled bay with a blind arrow slit and a ball finial at the apex. The west side has two blank windows.

The building predominantly features timber sash and case windows, with the schoolroom having eight lying panes. The roof is covered with grey graded slate, and there are gable stacks. The eastern external gable has raised coped skews and skewputts along with a stack.

The interior of the building has been extensively modernised. There is a low granite rubble boundary wall to the north.
