Description

Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, 1890. Well-detailed single storey Baronial lodge house with 2- and 3-stage crenellated towers and gatepiers with fine ironwork gates, sited at E entrance to Dinnet House policies. Aberdeen bond granite, mutuled cornice and cross gunloops to towers. Finialled crowstepped gables to single storey bays, chamfered reveals and stone mullions.

FURTHER DESCRIPTION: entrance elevation to S, facing gates, with 2-leaf timber door in low crowstepped bay at left, polygonal stair tower to centre with narrow lights, and lower circular tower adjoining at right with bipartite windows to E (road) elevation.

9-pane glazing pattern over plate glass in timber sash and case windows; plate glass glazing to tower lights. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks.

GATEPIERS AND GATES: polygonal bull-faced gatepiers with deep stepped coping and large ball finials flanking 2-leaf decorative ironwork gates and outer pedestrian gates.
