Description

The Drochaid Balbh Bhordain Bridge, located near Ruthven, dates to around 1730 and was constructed during the time of General Wade's military road building program. It is a small, single-span humpback bridge built of rubble stone, with a dressed arch ring. There is no parapet present. The bridge carries the old military road connecting Etteridge and Ruthven Barracks, and crosses the Allt na Feithe Moire burn. William Taylor's 1976 publication, The Military Roads in Scotland, provides further details on page 63. The bridge lies within the Cairngorms National Park.
