Description
Mont Abbe is an 1832 house of two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay design, facing southeast. The walls are constructed of rubble with a green colour wash. A modern glazed porch now obscures the central doorway. Modern windows are present, along with tooled pink granite chimney stacks at each end, and a slate roof. Originally, the ground floor served as a school, with a schoolhouse located on the first floor. It is situated within the Cairngorms National Park. Further information is contained in Victor Gaffney’s Tomintoul, Its Glens and Its People (1970) and the Scottish Catholic Directory (1835).
