Description
Ballochneck Bridge is a single span road bridge dated 1788. It features a segmental-headed arch and is constructed of rubble with dressed red sandstone details and rounded rubble coping. The bridge has a narrow arch ring and a partially remaining band course at the base of the parapet. The voussoirs are made of projecting red sandstone, with three pierced red sandstone quatrefoil panels in the center of the parapet on the north side, and one blocked quatrefoil panel to the right. On the south side, there are two pierced red sandstone quatrefoil panels to the left of the arch, along with three partially remaining blocked quatrefoil panels in the center. It is said that the stone at the end of the parapet is inscribed with '1788'.
