Description

Erskine Marykirk Church is a former Secession church located at 29 St John Street in Stirling. Built between 1825 and 1826 by Allan Johnstone, it was altered in 1877 by William Simpson. The church, which was abandoned in 1968 and suffered significant damage from a fire in 1980, retains only its facade, with a modern extension added to the rear during its conversion to residential use around 1985.

The building is two stories high and has five bays divided by pilasters, constructed from squared rubble with ashlar margins. The principal elevation features three central bays that are advanced and topped with a pedimented portico. The entrance includes a round-headed fanlight at the ground level, with round-headed windows in the bays on either side. The outer bays have entrances set in recessed round-arched panels, also with round-headed fanlights. Above, there is regular round-headed fenestration.

The side elevation is characterized by a harled wall with a lean-to at the ground level and round-arched windows above.
