Description
The Carnegie Public Library, located at 19 Corn Exchange Road in Stirling, was designed by H Ramsay Taylor from Edinburgh in 1904 and showcases an Early Renaissance style. The building is tall, featuring a single storey and a basement, constructed from rubble with mullioned and transomed windows. A notable architectural element is the two-storey circular corner tower topped with a conical roof, along with elaborate parapets and dormer heads. The central section of the library is three storeys high with an attic and a pavilion roof, while the northern section is two storeys tall with three windows and dormer heads. The entrance is highlighted by an Ionic columned doorpiece, and the roofs are slated.
