Kirkhill, Main Street, Kippen

Kirkhill is a late 18th-century building on Main Street in Kippen, with additions made in 1844 and later modifications. The original section is a single-storey and attic range, to which a modern addition has been built over part of the structure. The building is harled, with painted margins. A modern dormer window is visible in the slate roof. The end stacks feature chamfered flues dating back to 1844. A three-bay extension, dated 1844, projects over a porch. The exterior is constructed of snecked coursed red sandstone with ashlar dressings. The design is asymmetrical, incorporating an advanced, shallow gable with a niche to the left. An open gabled porch, finialled and with a stepped hood mould above four-centred arches, is located in the re-entrant angle. A later bay extends to the south. Chamfered flues are a notable feature, along with the slate roof.
