Description
The war memorial in Kippen was designed by A. N. Paterson around 1920. It comprises an octagonal base constructed of rubble stonework with contrasting ashlar quoins. Above the base is a stepped plinth supporting a mercat cross. The cross itself is in the form of an Ionic column, featuring a swag above the capital, a miniature boat-shaped pediment, and a crowning cap and finial. A low octagonal retaining wall extends around the base. Details about the memorial's design are documented in the Paterson family papers.
