Description

Clachanry is an early 19th-century farmhouse that stands two storeys high and features a three-bay rectangular plan, with long single-storey wings on either side. The overall layout is symmetrical, with a regular arrangement of windows on the principal south elevation. The exterior is primarily constructed of rubble, which is mostly rendered and painted white, though small sections of the northern wings have been rebuilt in brick. The windows of the house have dressed stone surrounds.

On the south elevation, there is a later gabled porch with a finial above the central entrance, which features a panelled timber door and a window to the right side. Above the entrance, there is a window, with flanking windows on each floor. The left wing has two windows on the ground floor and one higher up on the left side.

The north elevation includes a near-central window on both the ground and first floors of the house, with a window to the right on the ground floor where a former window has been blocked. The left wing has two entrances, with a window to the right, while the right wing has a former entrance that is now a window to the left and four entrances to the right, the leftmost of which has a window adjoining it on the right.

The east and west elevations of the house feature blank gable ends, with the projecting single-storey wings. The house has UPVC replacement windows, while the wings mainly have timber replacements with top-hung upper casements. The roofs are covered with grey slate, and there are coped gablehead stacks on either side of the house, with the eastern stack rendered and featuring round and octagonal chimney cans. The interior was not inspected in 1999.
