Black Bull Inn, Rennie's Loan, Kippen

The Black Bull Inn, originally The Black Horse Inn, is a two-storey, three-bay house dated 1729, with a lower part added in 1929. The building is harled (roughcast) with red sandstone quoins and dressings around the door and the central first-floor window. The ground floor windows have 12 panes of glass, while the first-floor windows have smaller, lying-pane glazing. The roof is slate, with a modern cement ridge, and features straight skews (roof edges) with scrolled skew putts (decorative terminals). There are end stacks (chimneys). A red sandstone garden wall runs along the property, featuring two drum gatepiers topped with domed caps. One pier is attached to the wall at the south boundary. The date "1729" is carved in stone over the lintel.
