Description
The Head Post Office at 84 Murray Place in Stirling was designed by W W Robertson from the Office of Works in Edinburgh and completed in 1894. This building features a free early Renaissance style with a two-storey facade made of ashlar stone, displaying six windows across its front. The end bays are slightly advanced and there are four arched windows on the ground floor. Above these, two pilastered doorpieces have relief work. The first floor windows are framed with architraves in the four central bays, while the end bay windows are set within pilastered aedicules topped with pediments and gablets featuring segmental pediments. The design is completed with a bracketed cornice and a blocking course.
