Description
The tollhouse, likely designed by Alexander Stevens around 1775, is a single-story, rectangular building with a gabled front. It features a three-bay front elevation constructed from rough ashlar with raised margins; the entire building is currently painted yellow. A central door is sheltered by a horizontally boarded porch with a piended roof. There are two sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern, although these are modern replacements incorporating horn detailing. The roof is slated with straight skews, and has end stacks with block corniced copes. A modern porch has been added to the rear. The tollhouse was likely built at the same time as the adjacent A-listed and scheduled Hyndford Bridge, with which it groups.
