Description
The Poultry, located on Castle Avenue in Bothwell, is an earlier 19th-century T-plan poultry house. It features a central two-storey pavilion with a piended roof, which has a pitch-roofed dovecote above a square-headed opening below. Flanking the pavilion are single-storey recessed verandas with three bays, supported by timber columns, and there are single-bay piended-roofed terminals at each end. The building is constructed of polished pink sandstone ashlar, with stugged sandstone at the rear, and includes overhanging eaves, exposed roof slats, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Inside, the central block is subdivided with timber joists that separate the floors.
